Teacher Training Testimonials

By: Trevor Rogerson Aug 31, 2016
The Yoga Unit’s Teacher Training program and curriculum is the best investment for future teachers to make. The curriculum, the instruction, the hands-on practice, and the experience and passion of Monica and the staff allow teachers to be prepared to teach immediately after they complete the program. Unlike some other programs that are book heavy and practice light, The Yoga Unit balances these two so that future teachers learn about the poses, the anatomy, the lifestyle, and the various components of yoga – and the teachers learn how to apply that knowledge to a studio, small group or private class. There are high standards, but the standards are presented in an approachable and creative way. The program is comprehensive, well-run, organized, fun and inspiring.

I have been practicing with The Yoga Unit since they opened their doors in 2013 and felt an instant connection to Monica Mathews’ method of teaching. So when their 200 Hr Teacher Training became available, I jumped on the opportunity to study with her. Monica’s expertise and passion for yoga flows from her presence, making each class fun and informative. We learned from her own published textbook, met on nights and weekends to accommodate our busy work schedules, and gained personalized attention due to the small class size. I recently applied to teach at a local studio and felt completely prepared to lead a class on the spot. I have already referred friends to the Yoga Unit’s training and will continue to attend classes in an effort to steal more knowledge from their amazing staff.
